In 2018 DIRECTV expanded it's 4K offering to original content and some big name tickets like the World Cup. For the first time, 4K subscribers would have access to the entire 2018 FIFA World Cup in 4K. We were asked to keep DIRECTV 4K Subscribers in the know with start times and key matchups. We did this through an integrated Facebook campaign that delivered in-app value to subscribers. Additionally, we hacked Apple’s mobile wallet to providereal-time updates on the latest 4k content.
Starting one week before the World Cup we used targeted video content to build excitement for the DIRECTV 4K offering.
We created a Facebook Canvas to provide real-time updates of the schedule and key matches to follow. Subscribers also had the option to download the DIRECTV FIFA World Cup mobile Wallet with one click.
Facebook Carousels and Collections helped drive traffic after the launch.
